Getting organized, in no particular order
- Write things down! Good old post-its can be a good way to avoid forgetting important tasks, and as a bonus, the act of writing them out will help you commit them to memory.
- Invest in a day-to-day calendar. It’s useful for planning ahead and you’ll get to turn a new page every morning – no more feeling like you’re trapped in your own Groundhog Day.
- Start your workday with a look at your schedule and finish it by checking the next day’s. Don’t let things take you by surprise!
Getting comfortable (we like this one)
- Create a routine for yourself. Take some time in the morning to meditate, do yoga, or going through your beauty regimen – do what feels right for you.
- Surround yourself with things that bring you joy and comfort, like a good pair of slippers, a cozy blanket, a large reusable bottle of water to keep on your desk, potted plants to gaze at and care for. The possibilities are endless!
- If you can get your hands on noise-cancelling headphones, these are perfect for tuning out your annoying neighbours (and they’ll still be handy if you ever get back to that open-plan office).
- We wouldn’t be who we are if we didn’t mention blue light lenses. They help fend off eye fatigue – and we all need some of that!
Getting informed, entertained, or infotained
We could have also called this one: taking breaks. And one of our favourite ways to relax is to listen to podcasts (which you can also do while getting some much-needed air!). Recently, we’ve been listening to Attitudes, Song Exploder, Les pires moments de l’histoire, and Jay Du Temple discute.
