Why did you pursue optometry? Did you always want to go into that field?
Even though I've worn glasses since I was 12, I surprisingly never considered becoming an optometrist before trying several university programs. I studied nursing science and occupational therapy at Université de Montréal. One thing was for sure, I wanted to work in the health field!
What’s your favourite part of working as an optometrist?
What I like most is the contact with each patient. I also like being able to make a difference in people's lives. Finally, I appreciate the flexible schedule!
What sets BonLook apart from other clinics?
Although eye exams are a relatively new service at BonLook, the team is well organized and offers a good continuum of services (optometrists, opticians, and stylists). Both the store and examination room are sleek and bright. The equipment is new, and the atmosphere is pleasant!
Who should consult an optometrist?
Everyone! In fact, the first eye exam is recommended as early as 6 months old by the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
Furthermore, many eye emergencies can be handled by optometrists, which can save you time and help ease the burden on emergency rooms.
What are your tips for maintaining good eye health?
Take a break from screens and spend time outside (with good sun protection)! Above all, have an eye exam at the frequency recommended by your optometrist. Many conditions are asymptomatic and can be detected fortuitously during a comprehensive eye exam with your optometrist.
